Greetings, traveler!
I am the Wayfinder, and in this place I will share the progress of the Journalkeeper as he makes his way forward. To what end? That is not for me to disclose but only to discover.
My charge is to guide him along the many Pathways and help him across the Intersections, but I must not interfere too much! He is a Gifted One, perhaps the most powerful among the many who have come before. He may be even more, but there are many miles of walking ahead before we might dare to hope…
Meanwhile, I have been working among you for centuries to bring your species to the place where my writings may be made known to all who might be led to take notice. How painful it was to watch you laboring over carved stone, clay tablets, papyrus and parchment (I thought you’d never get the paper-making technology figured out!). But at long last, the effort has been successful and I have nudged you to the point at which instant and universal communication is now available. Consider it my gift.
Sadly, it has not come without consequences–each step toward this end has brought with it a new level of clutter that I could not have predicted. So much writing! So little to say! Movable type was bad enough, but this internet is so full of noise that I often despair of anyone ever discovering these words.
But you have been led past all the dross and discovered the Journals of The Wayfinder, a place where I may point you toward the Gifted One, the Reality Maker, the Journalkeeper. He walked in power that he did not know or comprehend, and is set upon a journey upon which I am his Guide, his Protector, and–I am surprised to add–his Friend.
I beseech you avail yourself of this backward technology and subscribe to this weblog.
You are encouraged to leave comments as it will bring me pleasure to read them. As a student of archaeology, I enjoy observing simple creatures making an attempt to communicate using the primitive device of written language. This has long been extinct in all known Pathways, so it was exciting to discover it still in actual use. Imagine our surprise to find that writing wasn’t just a historical curiosity, but perhaps the most important discover of all time.
But that is for another entry.
May all your Pathways cross at safe Intersections,
The Wayfinder
